INSTITUTE FOR GREEN DEVELOPMENT
The Departments
The organization has three departments which are the pillars of sustainable development. These include Economic Empowerment, Social Equity, and Justice, and Environmental Conservation. It is based on these pillars that IGD enhances sustainable development.

Economic Empowerment
We do understand that economic benefits are crucial for a better life. It is based on this argument that we stand against poverty. We believe that no one should live below the poverty line despite their level of education. Therefore, we focus on helping individuals and households earn a sustainable income.
Some of the projects that we have in place to address extreme poverty include development and empowering of savings and loan groups, capacity building to enhance the business skills of the groups and individuals, and environmental conservation. We also enhance access to information on activities such as farming, employment opportunities and funding for the economic benefit of the community members. During emergencies, we support the affected communities to bounce back to their normal economic situation through relief supply and support.

Social Equity & Justice
In a primarily unjust world, we do focus on equity as opposed to equality. We recognize the unfairness associated with access to resources, power, and justice in our world. Therefore, we decided to put in place measures that will ensure social equity and justice.
The projects in this pillar are guided by the four principles of social justice. These are access, equity, rights, and participation. That is, as much as we intend to create equality in access to services and goods, we also aim to overcome the unfairness associated with the same. We seek to ensure that each and everyone gets what they deserve. Again, we do recognize that participation is crucial in sustainable development. Therefore, we have a framework that ensures that the locals actively participate in the decision-making processes of the projects.

Environmental Conservation
For so long, we have focused on economic empowerment at the cost of nature. Consequently, we have been impacted negatively. Today living beyond the means of nature has seen us witness adverse effects such as impacts of climate change on livelihood and respiratory diseases associated with air pollution.
We do recognize the importance of the environment in the wellbeing of humans. Therefore, we call for and engage in sustainable practices such as the use of clean energy and application of the 3Rs concept in our daily activities. We also advocate for replenishing that which the earth has been "robbed" and engaging in habits that enhance environmental conservation.
Consultancy Services
We are endowed with experts in diverse fields. As a community aiming at maximizing the utilization of resources, consultancy is how we share our human resources.
